Another big distribution deal is coming out of the American Film Market today, as the AFM starts wrapping up now through the weekend. The deal? According to Screen Daily, IFC Films has snatched up the U.S. distribution rights to the French zombie flick THE HORDE, from producer Xavier Gens.
IFC seems to do quite well with flicks like this, so all the power to them for jumping at the opportunity and picking this sucker up. Directed by Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher, THE HORDE goes a little something like this: four corrupt cops are out to avenge the death of one of their own. They corner a group of gangsters in a condemned building which winds up being invaded by hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures.
The concept for this sucker is great, and with Gens on board producing, there’s no doubt that this flick will be an entertaining dip into horror. I’m also glad to hear that IFC will be releasing the flick “as is,” and won’t be trying to remake the damn thing first. Then again, if it’s a hit, prepare for the remake in 2011.
