Amy Heckerling, who brought us the immortal FAST TIMES AT RIDGMONT HIGH and the well-it-seemed-good-in-1995 comedy CLUELESS is going to inject some silliness into the vampire genre, cuz it really needs that!

Heckerling is set to direct VAMPS, which she also wrote. The flick already has Krysten Ritter (pictured) on board, in this modern-day tale of two young female vampires who live the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality.

Sounds… well, we’ll see. Filming will begin in March 2010 with Red Hour Films, Lucky Monkey Pictures partner Lauren Versel and Molly Hassell producing.
