Writer Akiva Goldsman sat down and chatted extensively with The L.A. Times this past week about a number of upcoming projects he has coming up, as well as a ton of other topics ranging from his work with Ron Howard, his recent directorial gig working on FRINGE, and what it was like writing BATMAN & ROBIN, one of the crappiest comic book movies ever made.
He also talked about one of his next projects: bringing SWAMP THING back to the big screen, but this time, basing it more on the comics by Alan Moore. In his own words: We want a film with real Southern, dark horror overtones, a little bit like a classic Universal horror film.
And by basing it on Moore’s take on the comic series, and not on the cheesey Wes Craven film (a classic in its own right, but cheesey), I think it has a real shot at being a big hit. As long as they can make it screen and not like a dude in a big rubber suite, like Craven’s version.
If you’re into comic book movies, and are looking forward to Guy Ritchie’s LOBO, Josh Brolin and Megan Fox in JONAH HEX, and even the action-packed comic adaptation of THE LOSERS, then you should take a moment and check out this interview RIGHT HERE and prepare to be impressed.
