So the uber-marketing team behind James Cameron’s latest opus, AVATAR, has just taken part in a little featurette about the Ubisoft videogame based on the film.

In the clip below (courtesy of movieweb.com, taken from Empire), writer/director James Cameron and producer Jon Landau have sat down to discuss, at good length, some of the creative thought processes that went into the making of the AVATAR videogame, how interactive they wanted it to be, and how they hope to bridge all forms of media to encompass one larger-than-life experience.

Just as Cameron looks to carve new ground with his film, he himself is in unfamiliar territory here as well, adding “this is the first time I’ve been involved in a game from the inception of the movie project. Regarding the goal of the project, Cameron adds “we want to make a game from the inside of your thematic ideas, outward.”

If for no other reason, peep the clip to see the garish, candy-colored world of Pandora Cameron has set out upon.

AVATAR the movie is in theaters December 18, 2009.
