A short while ago, I let you guys in on one quirky independent genre piece called LESLIE, MY NAME IS EVIL. It seemed like something very out-of-the-box and rather campy, and today I can present the proof! The brand new trailer is out for your viewing pleasure. Simply click here to see what I mean. It’s got a swingin’ vintage-like look and feel. And “Leslie” looks smokin’ sexy (even with that dang cross scar on her forehead). I’ve posted a couple of fun/hot pics from the flick below to further pique your curiosity.
Check out the wild plot: Perry, a sheltered chemical engineer, falls in love with Leslie, a former homecoming princess, when he is selected to be a jury member at the Manson trial. When Perry and Leslie lock eyes in court, Perry is forced to confront the darkest deepest parts of himself and by extension, our society. Perry has always done what is expected of him. He was a straight A student who got a good job at a chemical company and proposed to his virgin Christian girlfriend, Dorothy. Leslie took a different path after she was traumatized by Kennedy’s assassination, her abortion and the divorce of her parents. She took LSD, joined a hippie death cult and helped murder a God-fearing citizen in her own home. When Perry and Leslie lock eyes in court, Perry is forced to confront the darkest deepest parts of himself and by extension, our society. Leslie, My Name is Evil is a film that explores how the choices Perry and Leslie make reflect upon the moral choices our society has made.
It looks as nutty as it sounds. Definitely worth checking out. LESLIE was written and directed by Reginald Harkema and stars Gregory Smith, Kristen Hager, Ryan Robbins, Kristin Adams, Kaniehtiio Horn, Anjelica Scannura, Sarah Gadon, Tracy Wright, Don McKellar, and Travis Milne. It will be premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 14th.
