The latest thing for big-time directors to do is direct superhero movies, and with director Guy Ritchie throwing more gutters than strikes lately, he’s looking to jump on the bandwagon and salvage at least some part of his name. The superhero? DC Comics’ LOBO, and this is one badass motorscooter you don’t wanna mess with.
I’ve honestly never heard of Lobo before, but he’s basically this big blue dude from outer space (looking like an animated Rob Zombie) who comes to Earth to kick some extra terrestrial ass. He’s a bounty hunter and he doesn’t take shite from anyone, especially not the thugs he’s out to collect on. Heck yeah!
Specifically, LOBO is set go a little something like this: [The film features] Lobo, a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, and lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc. Lobo teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.
Sounds pretty awesome, except for maybe the help by a teenage girl part. Unless she’s hot and she’s played by someone in their 20s. With Ritchie’s unique eye and directorial style, this bitch has the potential to rock the house down. Except for one miner little thing: Warner Bros. is shooting for a PG-13 rating.
I was hoping this would step out of the usual superhero movie box and go R (it certainly sounds R), but it’s not. Maybe they’ll push the PG-13? I sure hope so. Now the big question is…. who’s gonna play Lobo? Stick around for more updates on LOBO as we hear it!
