The last we heard about BATTLE: LOS ANGELES was a few weeks back when it was announced that Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, and Michael Pena had joined Aaron Eckhart in the flick (check out the casting madness HERE).

At the time, there was no release date in sight, just set at an ambiguous ‘TBA.’ Until today. It looks like Sony / Columbia have settle on a date for it’s epic battle in Los Angeles, and that date is…. February 18, 2011!

Wow, that’s a long time from now! Then again, not too long…and likely just long enough to create something awesome. Considering BATTLE: LOS ANGELES is coming from TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING director Jonathan Liebesman, you know it will at least look amazing, and will likely entertain with the best of them.

As a quick recap, BATTLE: LOS ANGELES revolves around a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon’s battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles. It’s funny how quick this was to land a release date after the awesome weekend that DISTRICT 9 had at the box office. Thinnk we’ll see more alien and alien invasion movies in the near future? Oh yes… I think so.

So there you have it. February 18, 2011 is the official release date for BATTLE: LOS ANGELES. Drink it in and set to memory. This shit’s gonna be awesome.
