Singer’s Galactica a go

Yesterday word around the campfire was that Bryan Singer was gearing up and ready to produce and possibly direct the big screen version of the 1970s classic TV series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. But since the news came from HitFlix, we chocked it up as rumor until reports and confirmations had a chance to come through the trades. Well… that was fast!

According to Variety, the HitFlix report was right. Expect there’s no “possibly” about it. Singer is directing and producing the upcoming BATTLESTAR GALACTICA movie for Universal. Based on the original TV series, the new GALACTICA will have Singer’s signature look and style, and will be a complete re-imagination of the series. Kick ass.

I’m glad Singer decided not to return to the X-MEN franchise (yet another rumor about his next move), and could see him doing quite well with some sci-fi / action that GALACTICA promises to deliver. And maybe we can look forward to a darker side of Singer making an appearance, a la APT PUPIL? Maybe…
