DiBlasi plays a Game

The Arrow is drinking his way around the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, and is checking out all sorts of movies along the way. Keep your eye out for his reviews, as he’s already taken on DEAD SNOW with promises of more to come.

He also caught a screening of the film DREAD from director Anthony DiBlasi, based on the story by Clive Barker. Word on the street in Montreal is that DiBlasi is also in the works of bringing another Barker tale to the big screen, this time with Barker’s first novel THE DAMNATION GAME.

Published in 1985, THE DAMNATION GAME follows a gambling addict and ex-con who is hired as the bodyguard of one of the world’s wealthiest men, only to find that his employer has made a Faustian deal with a devilish figure named Mamoulian.

I’ve never read the book nor have I heard of it before, but as it’s coming from Clive Barker, I’m down! DiBlasi hasn’t said that he will be directing the flick, only that he’ll be adapting it for the big screen. Hmmmm… interesting…. I wonder who they’ll find to take the helm and give us a taste of the DAMNATION GAME!

Cool news? Lame news? If you’re a Barker fan it’s likely music to your ears. That is, of course, assuming that DREAD is good flick. Stick around for more from the Fantasia Film Festival all this week!
