Mysterious 9 poster

I caught BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE over the weekend and while perusing the theater’s hallways looking at the latest posters on the walls I came across the above poster and had no f*cking idea what the hell it was or what it was for. Except it wasn’t the above poster exactly, as it didn’t have the 9-9-09 at the bottom–it was just blank.

I thought it was for some 8-bit Nintendo game movie, but had a hard time placing the image with any video game. With the inclusion of 9-9-09 it becomes obvious that the poster is for the upcoming animated film 9, but that still leads to question… what the hell is with this poster?

9 is from director Shane Acker and features the voice talents of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, and Jennifer Connelly, about is basically a post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened. It also looks like a lot of fun, in a dark and almost depressing kind of way.

You can check out the trailer below but I think you’ll find that even then, you won’t have a clue as to what the new poster is about, or what it means, or whatever. You’ll still be lost, just as I am. But if you think you know, spit some bullets below and tell the rest of us!

9 hits theaters everywhere September 9th.
