Frayed slasher trailer

We’re stepping back into psycho slasher territory on this Tuesday! I’ve just come across an upcoming entry into my favorite genre that appears to be embracing the traditional, organic elements of old school slice-n-dice flicks. It’s called FRAYED and if you take a look at the trailer posted below, you may find at least a small similarity to HALLOWEEN. That’s not to say it doesn’t look like a perfectly satisfying slasher on its own. Just see for yourself. Also, check out the plot:

A small town sheriff’s worst nightmare comes true when his homicidal son escapes from a psychiatric hospital. An intense manhunt ensues as the dark secret behind the son’s evil past becomes revealed.

You can’t deny the large number of “slasher 101” components: “small town sheriff”, “homicidal maniac”, “escape from a psychiatric hospital”, “dark secret from the past”. Hell, it’s like I just re-wrote the plot description. And being the hungry slasher fan that I am, FRAYED seems to be offering just what my appetite ordered!

The flick was directed by Norbert Caoili and Rob Portmann from a script by Dino Moore and Caoili. His cast is composed of Aaron Blakely, Kellee Bradley, Don Brady, Colin Byrne, Alena Dashiell, Tony Doupe, and Tim Evans. Lionsgate will be releasing FRAYED on DVD this August 25th.
