A few months ago I gave the CBS show HARPER’S ISLAND a chance. I watched the first episode about a mysterious killer on an island in the Pacific Northwest taking out wedding guests one by one. The show promised to be the next slasher TV series (wait, was there a frist?). What I got was a cheesy Soap Opera with weaksauce kills that you’d expect from something on the CBS network.
After the first episode I stopped watching and completely forgot about it, but apparently it’s been going on strong ever since and had it’s season final this past weekend with more than 3M viewers. Seriously? Wow. And I thought only 6 people ever watched the damn show…
Wait, where was I going with this? Oh yeah. HARPER’S ISLAND is now officially CANCELED, at least according to The Hollywood Insider over at Entertainment Weekly. So while the show ended on a somewhat high note, it wasn’t enough to keep the series alive for another go-round. By the last episode, I figured everyone would have been killed off, so I’m a bit surprised that a second season was even in the cards in the first place, but then again… I stopped watching that shit.
I know you’re all sad and heartbroken. No more HARPER’S ISLAND. Boo-hoo. Get over it. Another lame attempt at horror will be on soon enough and you can get your watered-down TV violence groove on when that happens.
HARPER’S ISLAND’s Cameron Richardson!
