We’ve been hearing that the remake of Clive Barker’s HELLRAISER was on rocky ground, and that the project may or may not be happening. But nothing has been made official yet… until now. Sort of.
The official date for CLIVE BARKER PRESENTS: HELLRAISER (yes folks, that’s the official working title) has been changed from 2009 (a f*cking joke at this point) to a more suitable To Be Announced.
Could this mean that the project is officially on hold for a while? Could it be that the studio realized it won’t be ready to release the flick in the next 5 months? Could it be that it’s a sign that the film will never see the light of day? There are arguments for all of those factors, methinks. But as to the reasoning behind it all, it’s up in the air at this point.
Personally, I’d like to go with the thought that this remake will never see the light of day. I know it’s a pipe dream, but I just can’t see them improving on a movie that barely hit 20 years ago. Stick around to see whether The Weinstein Company solidfies a date, or twiddles their thumbs on the project for a few more years.
