FRANKENSTEIN GIRL. After sitting through this wild, just-over-a-minute ride, I can’t think of a better state of mind to experience it than an inhibited one. In case you didn’t already know, here is the flick’s fantastic plot: A teenaged vampire girl named Monami tries to win over her high school crush by converting him into a vampire via tainted Valentine’s Day chocolate. When his current girlfriend, Keiko, tries to get revenge, she’s quickly dispatched by the powerful Monami. Keiko’s mad scientist father decides to piece her back together, complete with various “improvements” to help assist her in a rematch against the boyfriend-stealing vampire.
I think directors, Yoshihiro Nishimura and Naoyuki Tomomatsu (who also wrote the script), have just created genre gold. I can’t wait to find out when I’ll be able to catch this in a theater or at home on DVD. It stars Eihi Shiina, Eri Otoguro, Yukie Kawamura, and Takumi Saito.
