One, two, Freddy may be already coming back for you! According to our new “Nancy”, Rooney Mara (right), at least. Little Miss Rooney has apparently signed on for not one, but two NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake flicks, according to the folks at Bloody-D. Now, my friends, please allow me to tell you why I feel that this news initially rocks!
First, it means that Platinum Dunes is looking to take the ELM STREET series in a new direction, just like Rob Zombie with HALLOWEEN 2. Why would I think this? Well, because the original NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2 didn’t have “Nancy” in it. So if Rooney is signed on for one more, that would mean that “Nancy” will be back in the sequel, which would, thus, have to be a brand new entry!
It’s no surprise that because of Jackie Earl Haley taking on the role of “Freddy”, I’m extremely excited for this remake. With the folks at Dunes already discussing the idea of a sequel, hopefully it means we will be in for a treat next April 10th. I mean, they already greenlit a FRIDAY THE 13TH sequel. So a Freddy sequel does already seem pretty friggin’ obvious.
