Antichrist’s limited date

It looks like Lars von Trier’s ANTICHRIST will be seeing the light of day afterall, thanks to all that bad press and controversy it spawned at the Cannes Film Festival a few months back. According to Variety, IFC will be releasing the flick in limited markets on October 23rd! Nice!

Those who live in Los Angeles and New York (as usual) will be getting hooked up pretty phat as the film will only be released in those two cities, but may have a rolling wider release after that. However, the joke’s on them, as it looks like IFC is going to release the film via OnDemand on October 21st! So there!

Meaning if you have access to OnDemand, then you’ll be able to check out what happens when a grieving couple retreats to their cabin in the woods, hoping to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse.

Starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg (below x2), ANTICHRIST looks pretty f*cked up, with tree orgies and other erotically bizarre stuff. Beyond the bad press, however, the film is generating some positive buzz, regardless of its excessive use of sex and violence. I can’t wait!

ANTICHRIST hits select theaters October 23rd, and OnDemand October 21st. Be there.
