My Man Eric recently hit up the set of the upcoming A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. in Chicago (the lucky bastard). But this has nothing to do with that, other than to say stay tuned for his set report on that puppy soon.

Fangoria had a chance to catch up with NOES star Kyle Gallner, who plays the Johnny Depp role in the film, about what it’s like to be in a new Freddy Krueger movie, what his character is all about, and all that other happy horseshit of being a young actor in a big Hollywood movie. Here’s just a taste of what Gallner had to say:

We’re definitely not your average horror-movie heroes. Quentin is rather confused and definitely has problems going on outside of the nightmare world, and Nancy does as well. There’s some cool character stuff going on that will be interesting for people to see. They’re two different people [from the first NIGHTMARE’s protagonists]; I’m not in a cutoff football jersey. But there are also definitely going to be some shoutouts to the original—a couple of lines and shots and stuff that people will see and go, ‘Oh yeah, there it is.’ A few of the iconic shots from [Wes Craven’s] movie are definitely going to appear in ours as well.

If they knew what was good for them, they damn-well better keep a few key scenes in the remake! Nice to see the characters won’t be exactly the same in the remake, but close enough to make comparisons. Then again, why “remake” it with new characters? Why not just make a f*cking sequel and call it a day? Oh yeah, cause sequels are out and remakes are in… blah…

Anywho, if you give a flying f*ck, check out the full interview by heading THIS WAY, and get ready for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. Platinum Dunes style in theaters April 16, 2010.
