Trick or Treat remake?

Word around the campfire over at MovieHole has it under good authority, from producer Joel Soisson, that a remake of TRICK OR TREAT may be on the way.

We’re talkin’ the 1986 TRICK OR TREAT, and not the waiting-to-be-released TRICK ‘R TREAT, though the ’86 version may have a bigger following and therefore, a bigger backlash to the possibilities of a remake.

I ain’t gonna lie to ya, I’ve never seen TRICK OR TREAT. I’ve seen the old VHS cover at the video stores from my youth, but never picked it up and gave it a try. I know. I suck. But you know… I feel inspired. I think I’ll try and get ahold of that shit, especially now that a remake may be on the way.

Soisson recently answered a reader’s question over at MovieHole and had this to say in his response to the possibility of a TRICK OR TREAT remake: I am actually kind of interested in a remake. Problem is, like Bill and Ted which we made around the same time for DeLaurentiis Entertainment group, the rights have been sold and resold from that now defunct company to the point it would take the FBI to puzzle it out. But your reader has inspired me to try.

And there you have it. Could be tied up in rights issues, could never see the light of day, but then again… it could all workout and we’d be seeing TRICK OR TREAT the remake real soon.
