The brand spankin’ new trailer for Martin Scorsese’s SHUTTER ISLAND hit the good ol’ internet today, making us here at AITH scratch our heads and wonder what the flock we were thinking for not covering this sucker earlier! This thing has AITH written all over it!
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, and Ben Kingsley, the film goes a little something like this: It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Boston’s Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He’s been pushing for an assignment on the island for personal reasons, but before long he wonders whether he hasn’t been brought there as part of a twisted plot by hospital doctors whose radical treatments range from unethical to illegal to downright sinister. Teddy’s shrewd investigating skills soon provide a promising lead, but the hospital refuses him access to records he suspects would break the case wide open. As a hurricane cuts off communication with the mainland, more dangerous criminals “escape” in the confusion, and the puzzling, improbable clues multiply, Teddy begins to doubt everything – his memory, his partner, even his own sanity.
Whoa. The Scorsese / DiCarprio duo has never let us down before, and this thing has CAPE FEAR style Scorsese written all over it. A scary island and even scarier insane asylum cut off from the outside world? Creepy doctors and a bunch of mental patients? DiCaprio loosing his mind, and the quest for patient 67? I’m so f*cking there it’s not even funny!
But don’t take my word for it, check out the trailer below and see for yourself! You can also catch the trailer in super High Def by heading THIS WAY. SHUTTER ISLAND hits theaters everywhere this October–just in time for HALLOWEEN!
