The growing pool of stars for Alex Aja’s PIRANHA 3D has just spawned one more. It looks like the flick finally has its focal comic relief in the form of Paul Scheer (above). The proud-to-be-gap-toothed comedian has been tweeting like crazy from the flick’s Lake Havasu set. This is fantastic news to me. Scheer is an extremely gifted funnyman. You should check out his MTV series, HUMAN GIANT, for proof.
Scheer is joining an already very powerful cast that includes Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Dina Meyer, Brooklynn Proulx, Quinn Lord, Riley Steele (below), Jessica Szohr, Christopher Lloyd, and the fat kid from STAND BY ME, Jerry O’Connell. Hell, and I was excited to see this even before I knew who was in it! With filming already under way, it looks like Mr. Aja will have no trouble completing this 3D project in time for its release on March 19, 2010.
