To be honest, I wasn’t really a huge fan of the movie adaptation of SILENT HILL. Perhaps it’s because I never played the video game (even though I still think the concept is pretty cool). Regardless, I really didn’t get what was going on and every time something cool/scary was about to happen, the part ended too quickly, giving way to more of Alice’s boring search.
I didn’t care for the ending either, however it did leave the “cross dimensional” door open for a sequel. In fact, two sequels were rumored to be coming soon back in 2007, but that notion kind of fizzled out. The original’s director, Christophe Gans, expressed minimal interest in returning to the HILL, which basically turned off script writer Roger Avary.
Now, today we have word from the original’s star, Ms. Radha Mitchell, that the idea of a sequel may not be going entirely silent. Here’s what she said in a recent interview: “I think they’re kicking it around, but I don’t think Christophe is attached, which is a shame. He’s a nutter, but he’s so passionate about the game. I think he should do it if they do it again. I’m sure they will, but I’m not sure what incarnation it will be.” Ms. Mitchell was even game for making a return appearance… I think: “I want to come back as a monster or some crazy creature.”
