Ramis on ‘Busters 3

One of the internet’s favorite subjects of speculation is the new GHOSTBUSTERS film, which in case you’ve been away is most definitely happening. Everyone and their mother, brother, lawyer, and sex slave has had a casting idea for the next generation of ‘busters – and most of these ideas include Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and the rest of the Judd Apatow gang.

Even more interesting, however, is the possibility of the “old” Ghostbusters coming back. While it’s been somewhat up in the air whether or not we’ll be seeing Venkman, Stengler and the rest in GB3 (as I’m sure it’ll eventually be dubbed), Harold Ramis set the record straight to MTV. We will be.

“We’re all going to be in it in different kinds of roles,” Ramis said. “We’re going to be the sage mentors. There are going to be young Ghostbusters.”

Ramis goes on to say that he, Dan Aykroyd, and original GHOSTBUSTERS director Ivan Reitman are consulting with screenwriters Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky on the new draft of the script, and that Bill Murray is “in”. Ramis puts it this way: “Bill Murray is just waiting for the truckload of money to arrive to get him out of his office.”

So this might allay worries from GHOSTBUSTERS fans that the beloved franchise is being f*cked with by amateurs. It would seem that the old players are quite involved. (Although they were also involved with GHOSTBUSTERS 2, so…)
