My friends, we’ve got a new trailer up and running for your viewing pleasure. This one is called PSALM 21 and before you say anything, no, it is not the story of a bunch of overly religious blackjack dealers. The actual plot is something a bit more willies-inducing (as is the trailer). So sit right there in your pulpit and have a look:
Henrik is a modern young priest living in Stockholm. He has nightmares about his dead mother. One day, he receives word from the coronary in a remote village, deep in the dark woods of Nothern Sweden: his father, a priest himself, has drowned. The circumstances of the drowning are unexplained.
Henrik drives through the endless forests of Northern Sweden up to the desolate village of his father to investigate the circumstances of his demise. As he learns more about the drowning – and about his father – the door to the unknown cracks opens. Shadows from the past emerge from the void. They return to our world with one specific purpose.
Revenge.
Hmm, that sounds kinda interesting. It tells a good amount, yet still seems to remain vague. I’m not sure if that makes any sense. Perhaps the black cherry vodka is starting to kick in. All I really know is that the hymnal that is sung during the trailer is f*cking eerie as hell!
PSALM 21 comes from Swedish writer/director, Fredrik Hiller. It stars Jonas Malmsjö, Niklas Falk, Björn Bengtsson, Görel Crona, Josefin Ljungman, and Per Ragnar. No word yet on when this one will be hitting the U.S. For more fun, you can check out the Swedish-language official website here.
