Bayona for Eclipse?

I know, you’re probably sick of all this TWILIGHT talk, and care about the director of ECLIPSE almost as much as you care about who wins “Dancing with the Stars”, but we’ve got a new name for you that is easily the most intriguing.

Well, not exactly new. A couple of months ago I told y’all one of the possibilities for the second TWILIGHT sequel – and it wasn’t the recently rumored Drew Barrymore or Paul Weitz. It was Juan Bayona, director of THE ORPHANAGE and Guillermo del Toro disciple. Bayona’s name, according to today’s Hollywood Reporter, keeps coming up, as the others are dismissed. While nothing is set in stone, it would seem that he’s very close to landing the gig, which would be his English-language debut. (Apparently the switch in styles would accomodate the darker turns of the story.) The film already has a JUNE 2010 release date.

Can anybody confirm that ECLIPSE is a cooler tale than the others? Or is it all the same shite?

(Also, there’s this breaking news: Taylor Lautner, the much maligned “Jacob” from TWILIGHT, has this to say to fans who don’t like him: “Don’t hate on me too much. I love you, guys.” True story… )
