Perhaps there’s some justice in the world and a remake has been killed before it even got off the ground. A few days ago, we all heard the news that RE-ANIMATOR was being prepped for a 3-D remake, coutesy of producers Brian Yuzna and Ray Haboush. Most of us were distraught, to say the least.
One such person was Stuart Gordon, director of the original demented masterwork. He was so caught off guard that he called his old friend Brian, asking what was what. Apparently, the news is good…
“I contacted Brian and he didn’t know anything about it. I said, ‘What’s going with the remake?’ And he asked, what remake?” Gordon tells Ryan over at ShockTillYouDrop.
So, for now perhaps we’re in the clear. RE-ANIMATOR is by no means one of my favorite films, but it’s so of its time that I can’t begin to picture an updated version being successful. Besides, can they top the head-giving-head gag? No, so what’s the damn point…
