Hope for Motel Hell?

What the hell is the deal with the supposed remake of MOTEL HELL? My man, Eric, reported to you all a long, long ways back that the proposed redo was basically buried in the ground. However, perhaps the idea was only buried up to its neck?

Because news broke out from director Steven C. Miller, himself, that he is indeed still on board as the remake’s director (as I once reported here). Miller actually contacted Horror-Movies.ca after the site posted a list of upcoming remakes to say that HELL should have been included and HE was the one helming it. All this time, we were under the impression that the flick had been dropped by MGM and picked up by Lionsgate, who then went on to drop it again. Well, apparently HELL is back with MGM under the complete care of Miller.

I’m really not sure how to feel about this. I’ve always thought that 1980’s MOTEL HELL was an amazing horror flick that may have been ahead of its time. I wonder whether an update now would be able to do the initial concept justice as well as re-acclimate it for these modern times. All I’ll say is don’t count ol’ Farmer Vincent out yet!
