Okay, it’s been a really long time since we last reported on anything regarding Platinum Dunes’ remake of the Hitchcock classic THE BIRDS. Perhaps many of you were glad to hear nothing for so long in the hopes that the idea had been scrapped. Well, don’t get your feathers in a bunch, but it looks like said remake is still floating around our flock. And it also looks like producer, Brad Fuller, is going after one helluva director for the flick: Martin Campbell (CASINO ROYALE). Have a look at what Fuller recently stated:
“Well, we’ve been having meetings with Martin. We had a meeting with him last week. We are inching closer. He’s in post on his movie that he just directed so it’s taking a little bit longer because he’s in the middle of that. We’re getting closer on a script. I mean, that’s a huge movie. That’s like all of our movies put into one so it’s a big undertaking and that’s why it’s taking so long.
At least it looks like Fuller and Dunes are deathly serious about making a quality flick. This doesn’t surprise me with the way they seem to be handling the new Jason and upcoming Freddy. I’d be a lying bastard if I told ya I was interested in seeing how this one turns out. Plus, I believe the beautiful and talented Naomi Watts (below) is attached to star. Tough to go wrong with a woman like that. If any more BIRDS news flys by, you can bet your beaks we’ll be there to let you know.
