Obviously, it’s going to be an UNDERWORLD kind of weekend around here, what with RISE OF THE LYCANS hitting theaters today. While my cohorts have posted an Exclusive interview with star Rhona Mitra HERE and a look behind the scenes HERE, I’m gonna sock you upside the head with some news about the future of this surprisingly durable franchise.
Bloody Disgusting talked with Len Wiseman – of course the director of the first two films, as well as the guy who hops into bed every night with the original Selene – about the possibility of future UNDERWORLD flicks. While that doesn’t seem to be in the cards at the moment, we might be seeing more vamp vs. werewolf action in a different format. Boob tube!
“There’s a lot of talk about a television series, I’m looking into that… if I could be very involved and can be a certain way, I’d be very interested in that… We had always hoped to do a trilogy, now that we completed that trilogy it’s kind of open, if people can join us and go back in time – and then leap forward, I’d like to go jump all across the time line.”
I’m not a huge
UNDERWORLD fan, but I guess there are worse things in the world than watching a leather-clad beauty battle creatures of the night every week, so I’d give it a look if it came to fruition.
