Slasher Id Proxy

Alright! We’ve got ourselves another new indie slasher to learn about! This one carries the strange-but-interesting title THE ID PROXY and it will be tearing our way from writer/director Matthew C. Dumond (making his feature debut). Just look at the pic of the flick’s killer up top. Looks pretty bad-ass! Kind of reminds me of a “hillbilly” version of V FOR VENDETTA. Anyways, have a look at the slasher-fan-friendly plot:

Will is a borderline psychotic who goes over the edge and embarks on a delusion-fueled murder spree. The principal victims are a group of campers who have the bad luck to wind up in his path. Dumond adds, “They’re killed off one by one in various horrifying ways as Will delves further into the evils hidden deep within his subconscious. The film illustrates the terrifying path of a truly deranged mind gone astray, focusing on a man who has lost all perception of reality and the division between right or wrong, left only to be a slave to the primal impulses and demands of the rage inside him.

That sounds just dandy to me! Campers getting axed by a loony. Sound familiar? If you’re a fan of AITH, it better! I like the idea of giving some focus onto the slasher himself. Nowadays, slasher flicks seem to fare better when there is more substance to the killings happening on screen.

THE ID PROXY stars Rick Dumont (as Will), Jim Baker, Rebecca Howland, Lauralee Ellis, Edward Payson, Eric Sansouci, Evalena Marie, and Jack Ordway. It is looking to score small regional Northeast theatrical run early next year, before heading out on the festival circuit and then to DVD.
