New Wicked Wood

Here’s a new horror indie that’s coming our way from the guys who made the flick, PSYCHO HOLOCAUST (which I last wrote about here). Those gentlemen are Director Krist Rufty and makeup FX artist Hank Carlson and the new film for which they both wrote the screenplay, is called WICKED WOOD. To start off, no, this is not a sequel to the “killer boner” flick ERECTION that I just wrote about this week. Rather, the “wood” in reference here refers to a statue made of the material. Here’s the plot:

Billy Garberina and Vanelle star as Ian and Heather, a couple with a troubled marriage who stop at a country store while driving home from a vacation. Ian becomes fascinated with a carved wooden figure called Splinter (up top), and though odd shop owner Mr. Hands insists he’s not for sale, Ian sneaks back later and takes the totem, leaving a wad of bills behind. But there’s a greater cost to be paid once Ian and Heather return home, and Splinter comes to evil, murderous life.

Perhaps the plot is somewhat similar to some stuff I’ve seen before, but I believe that Rufty and Carlson have a nicely wicked sense for the genre and are sure to have plenty of nasty tricks up their sleeves for ol’ Splinter. Plus, Vanelle (below) is a babe. The rest of the cast includes Chace Ambrose, Barbara Alloy, Samantha Novak, Steve Golla (as Mr. Hands), Seth Kutzleb and Tiffany Dantinne.
