Finally! A little info from Adam Green himself (right) on a possible sequel to his outstanding HATCHET. Although the current news isn’t extremely positive, it does give us some well-deserved insight into what exactly is going on. Here’s what Mr. Green stated:
“The phone keeps ringing and people are trying real hard to get me to commit to doing it. And I can tell you that it is going to happen. At one point, I was just going to write it, but now I’m hearing all these stories about how I’m going to direct it too, and I can definitely tell you that I haven’t agreed to do that.”
Nice, so it seems that Green is still very keen on seeing Victor Crawley slash across the screen again. I’ve heard the director is a pretty sincere guy, so I do believe him when he says it will happen. Money definitely isn’t an issue regarding the delay. Green’s plate is just a bit full right now. He’s got FROZEN, which starts shooting this February and then a romantic comedy right after that. “Right now, the HATCHET people are saying they would like the movie to be in theaters next September,” Green says, “and I don’t know if I can do the best job as director under those circumstances.”
That’s fine with me. Take your time, Mr. Green. Don’t give us a rushed sequel. I can wait for something great. And speaking of great, Mr. Green gave us a small taste of how he’d like HATCHET 2 to go. Have a look: “My HATCHET 2 is going to start on the same night as the first film ended, and in the very next frame. [Plus,] I have no reason to think that Kane [Hodder] won’t be back, even if I’m not directing. Victor Crowley is his character. If it’s my story, Tony Todd will be back, and Joel David Moore as well.” I’ll give you guys more info on this as I hear it.
