John Landis is returning to the realm of horror-comedy with BURKE AND HARE for London’s legendary Ealing Studios (who are now producing DORIAN GRAY). The screenplay was written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft.

BURKE AND HARE will tell the true story of William Burke and William Hare, serial killers who sold the corpses of their 17 victims to the Edinburgh Medical College for dissection. Sounds hilarious! (It can be argued that the upcoming I SELL THE DEAD was somewhat inpired by this sordid tale.)

Shooting will being early ’09 in London. Casting is underway now.

Landis on the project: “I am thrilled to be making a picture for Ealing. Burke And Hare have inspired a number of movies over the years, but Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft have written a unique and terrific screenplay which offers me a tremendous chance to make an historically accurate, very black, romantic comedy!”
