We haven’t heard much from SEASON OF THE WITCH since it was announced last month (read our article on it HERE). No, it’s not a remake of the early, fairly terrible George Romero movie of the same name, nor does it have anything to do with exploding Halloween masks… This is a 14th Century Black Plague movie starring Nic Cage… and Ron Perlman!
STYD got the scoop from producer Charles Roven at the Scream Awards; Perlman joins cage in this film from director Dominic Sena (KALIFORNIA, GONE IN 60 SECONDS), which chronicles the journey of 14th century knights transporting a girl suspected of being the witch responsible for spreading the Black Plague.
Perlman’s involvement certainly elevates this movie to “just might be cool” status. Obviously, it was sitting at “this will almost certainly suck because it’s a Nic Cage movie” before this news, so let’s hope Sena populates his epic with a few more badass character actors before the film rolls next month in Hungary.
