Deadly Invitation

Anyone speak Mandarin? Well, you may want to learn after you take a hit off the new foreign horror flick I’ve just come across (or you could just stick with the subtitles). Anyway, the flick is called INVITATION ONLY and it is coming to us from director Kevin Ko. The plot doesn’t sound super original, but it sure has a whole bunch of fun appeal anyway. Have a look and see why:

It is the best party ever in which a “wishing game” takes place where at first dreams seem to come true. But when one of the guests is found brutally killed, the wishing game turns into a killing game in which the ordinary guests are the tortured victims and the wealthy partygoers are the sadistic spectators. The hosts want to be entertained and torture is the main dish. Enjoy!!!

By “wishing game” I don’t think they’re talking about anything magical. Maybe stuff like wishing you had a million dollars or something else that rich people could grant. All in all, though, I’m liking this INVITATION. I mean, horror and parties go together like masturbation and Astroglide. Plus, I also like the little RUNNING MAN meets HOSTEL twist. The poster up top also rules. Guess it’s time to break out the “Mandarin For Dummies” book.

INVITATION ONLY was written by Sung In and Carolyn Lin. It stars Maria Ozawa, Jerry Huang, and Joseph Ma, and is currently in post-production from Filmax International.
