Way back in May, my man Eric dug up the scoop that the Canadian horror/comedy JUST BURIED had just been acquired for distribution. I can’t believe I haven’t heard anything about it since then because the concept sounds like a no-brainer for success. Plus, the brand new poster for the flick (above) is just awesome. Take a gander at the so simple, yet so perfect plot:
A young man inherits a nearly bankrupt funeral home from his estranged father. He falls in love with the alluring young mortician, only to find out she’s offing people to keep the place in business!
Reminds me a tiny bit of CEMETERY MAN, but I’m sure it’s different in many ways. I really like the two leads. I’ve been a fan of Jay Baruchel (KNOCKED UP) ever since the short-lived, but hilarious series UNDECLARED and Rose Byrne is just gorgeous (as you can see below). I think we’re in for one dynamic, darkly comedic duo.
Hopefully BURIED will be unearthed soon. I believe it’s looking at a Fall 2008 release. It was written and directed by Chaz Thorne and also stars Graham Greene, Nigel Bennett, Sergio Di Zio, and Reagan Pasternak.
