Way back in July, I gave you guys the first word on a new horror flick called DARK WOODS which was boasting a real rising genre star as its lead in the shape of Tracy Coogan (ZOMBIE HONEYMOON). We now have the news on exactly who will be staring alongside her. Have a look:

The most famous new addition to the cast is James Russo (THE NINTH GATE, DONNIE BRASCO, BLUE LAKE MASSACRE, SATANIC) who will be playing “Sheriff Demming”. The rest of the players include John Muscarnero (who wrote the script), Mark Shady, Mary Kate Wiles, Yvonne Huff, and Rob Simpson.

Now take a gander at WOODS’ interesting plot: The story follows a couple (played by Coogan and Muscarnero) who moves to a secluded cabin in the woods to cope with a terminal illness of the wife. As her condition drags her deeper into dementia and darkness, the husband’s friendship with a local teenage girl takes a dangerous and obsessive turn.

The flick will be directed by Mike Escobedo with shooting looking to begin this winter. I said this last time and I’ll say it again, Tracy Coogan (below) is one fantastic actress, so I’m betting DARK WOODS will be one to watch!
