The bloody genre party that is HORRORFEST ’09 is really starting to pick up steam. We’ve already reported recently on entries PERKINS’ 14 and SLAUGHTER… and now I’m gonna report on ’em a little more.

It looks like we’ve got ourselves some new pics to enjoy from both flicks. The one up top is from PERKINS’ and is sufficiently grotesque. I’m guessing that image reveals one of the 14. That sure is one f-ed up looking bitch. Here’s the flick’s plot: A man named Robert Perkins builds an army of 14 people brainwashed through cult-like methods to protect him from his parents’ killers. When Perkins is imprisoned, the police unwittingly unleash his followers on a small town and they’ve only got one thing on their mind: “Kill for Mr. Perkins.”

The bottom pic is from SLAUGHTER and is way less grotesque than the one up top. It’s actually a kind of morbidly beautiful shot of terror. I really like how graceful the blonde girl looks with her strangely peaceful face and hands tied together to look like she is praying… for quick salvation or an even quicker death. Here’s the plot: A young woman looks to escape her abusive life by moving to her family’s farm near Atlanta. Unfortunately, she learns her place of supposed comfort offers more terrifying forms of abuse.

So far, both of these flicks appear to be of a higher caliber than the usual HORRORFEST fare. Hopefully I’m right. We’ll know for sure when the Fest begins on January 2nd 2009.
