Did I miss something? Was BOOGEYMAN really good? Last I checked, the movie was a complete turd, but apparently that was the director’s fault, because the writers of that asinine flick just keep getting work. And not just “work”, but serious work. First, Juliet Snowden and Stiles White were assigned THE BIRDS remake (read my last article about that apparent piece of crap HERE) and now they’re ready to squat over another classic and shit upon it. That classic is POLTERGEIST.
The concept of a POLTERGEIST remake isn’t really out of nowhere – we’ve heard many rumblings before – but The Hollywood Reporter’s article about these two knuckleheads getting the greenlight confirms our worst fears. Do they think they can top the original? I sincerely doubt it, so the next couple months of their lives will be the ultimate exercise in futility. As will be any of MGM’s attempts to make horror fans (and fans of great cinema in general) anything other than enraged and depressed. Let’s wait and see what they do for an encore. Is Len Wiseman busy?
The only thing we can do now is drink. Drink and enter a blissful state of ignorance… God I hate you sometimes, Hollywood.
