At the beginning of this month, Jared P. and I gave you guys the skinny on the casting credits (here and here) for the upcoming big screen re-telling of the horror classic DORIAN GRAY. Well, now with the cast set and filming underway, we have ourselves the obligatory first still from the flick (above).

I’ve gotta say that image really says it all regarding the basic plot of DORIAN GRAY. That’s Ben Barnes up top on the right as the youth-obsessed GRAY gazing mostly likely at either his pristine reflection or the “special” painting that was made for him. And there’s Colin Firth right behind him with an evil smirk as Lord Henry Wotton, the aristocrat who corrupts GRAY.

Once again, for the non-literary folk, here is the plot: Dorian Gray is a young man who becomes the subject of a painting. As the man descends into a hedonistic lifestyle, the portrait begins to age and morph, but he doesn’t.

It is being directed by Oliver Parker from an adapted script by Toby Finlay. The rest of the large cast includes Rebecca Hall, Emilia Fox (below), Ben Chaplin, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Fiona Shaw, Maryam D’Abo, Pip Torrens, Douglas Henshall, Caroline Goodall, Michael Culkin, Johnny Harris and Max Irons.
