I just came across another zombie-inspired horror flick from the U.K. that actually shows a great deal of intense potential. It’s called THE DEAD OUTSIDE and you can take a look at its poster up top. I’m really diggin’ it! Read through the synopsis and tell me if I’m brain dead:
A neurological pandemic has consumed the population. Drug-resistance has mutated the virus into a ravaging psychological plague, rendering the ‘the dying’ desperate, paranoid and violent. Two survivors come together on an isolated farmhouse in desperate circumstances- April, a young mysterious girl with a dark past has survived alone for months, and Daniel, a man desperate and bereaved, clings desperately onto hope in the outside world. When a mysterious stranger turns up, they are confronted with a new enemy even deadlier than the one beyond the perimeter.
Sure it’s got several similarities to 28 DAYS LATER and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and probably many more flesh-eater entries… but what OUTSIDE may lack in complete originality, it seems to make up for in terrifying execution. Just click on the trailer below to see what I mean.
The flick was directed by Kerry Anne Mullaney who co-wrote the script with Kris R. Bird. It stars Sandra Louise Douglas, Alton Milne, Sharon Osdin, Vivienne Harvey, John Erskine, Phylis Douglas, Robin Morris, and Max Adair. No word yet on a precise release date.
