Horror/Com Lanes

Ah, the beloved ’80s horror/screwball comedy! It’s a genre so near and dear to my heart. Not only for the cheesy laughs, over-the-top gore, and bevy of boobage, but also I suppose, for the nostalgic feel that always occurs whenever I catch STUDENT BODIES, THE TOXIC AVENGER, NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, and so many more! It was a true pleasure growing up with all these flicks, which means I am quite psyched about this new hor/screw/com offering I just heard about. Check it out:

The flick is called COVENTRY LANES and it just began filming this past Friday in Pennsylvania. It’s coming to us from Mike Watt and Amy Lynn Best (both up top right), the team behind Happy Cloud Pictures, and although the plot is being kept hush-hush for now (I’m guessing something about bowling), just take a gander at how they are describing it: “[LANES] is something very different for us, especially in recent years. It’s very much like the sexy horror/comedies of the ’80s, like something you’d catch on USA’s UP ALL NIGHT. It’s going to be fun.”

That’s really all I need to hear to say “sold”. Need some more convincing for yourself? Well, just take a look at two names from the cast: Debbie Rochon and Brinke Stevens (below)–the ultimate scream queen combo! Mr. Watt and Ms. Best certainly know how to select their actresses! The rest of the cast includes Robyn Griggs, Lilith Stabs, Nikki McCrea (SPLATTER MOVIE: THE DIRECTOR’S CUT), Sofiya Mina Smirnova, Rachelle Williams, Aaron Bernard, and Henrique Coto. More on LANES as we hear it.
