Is there something strange in the neighborhood? Well, then we know who to call… GHOSTBUSTERS! Really? But aren’t they old and retired? Not So according to a very reliable source over at Dread Central (Jared P. dropped a hint of this here). Apparently, Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, and Winston still have some charge left in their proton packs and a third outing of the slime-slinging franchise may be closer than we think! That’s right! Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson have all agreed to come back!
How can this be, you may be asking. Well, here’s a supposition on how: all four actors had recently gotten back in character together for the upcoming GHOSTBUSTERS video game. Perhaps their pleasant feelings towards the series became reignited? Now get ready for the crazy-ass kicker:
Although there is no known plot as of yet, speculators are saying that the original Ghostbusters will be looking to hand the keys of ECTO 1 over to a new collection of spirit stalkers. And that collection is said to be comprised of Seth Rogan and his 40 YEAR-OLD VIRGIN peeps. There’s some HUGE comic potential right there (especially if Judd Apatow gets involved). However, could it end up being comic overload? Hopefully not because I still feel that GHOSTBUSTERS is one of the funniest movies ever made and it shouldn’t have to be concluded with that inferior sequel GB2.
As of right now, everything is dependent upon budgetary issues, but studios would be wise to consider that the public is still hungry for some funny, spooky entertainment and… who they gonna call?
