This may seem like a slightly odd article, but the news made me smile and dance a silly jig (only part-true) so I figured I’d try and provoke a similar reaction out of some of you: those of us who were not able to check out FEARnet on t.v. just got lucky – those of us with Time Warner Cable anyway. Variety is reporting that the on-demand channel will be invading at least 8.4 million additional homes; the total amount of homes with the ability to view the channel will rise to 29 million. Previously, you were only able to check out the horror channel if you had Comcast.
Time Warner will slot Fearnet in two platforms: in its Cutting Edge on-demand channel (with other networks including Adult Swim, Anime and G4) and in its free-movies-on-demand channel. In any given month, according to the president of Fearnet, the service has 40 movies in the mix. So if you just want to fall asleep to HOSTEL or ROSEMARY’S BABY on a whim without the hassle of moping over to your DVD collection, you’re good to go!
Of course, you can always check out FEARnet’s official website as well, and where it has a number of original series, including the two 30 DAYS OF NIGHT spin-offs: DUST TO DUST and BLOOD TRAILS.
The only downside at the moment is that we don’t know when the channel goes live – I’ll try and keep an eye on it and will give y’all a heads-up when it happens!
