Prepare yourselves for the shocking, twisted, macabre story of a pair of incestuous, silent-tongued twin girls. Sound strange? Well, I guess then hence its title, STRANGE GIRLS. This interesting genre oddity is the debut feature from writer/director Rona Mark (it’s the first time ever a female filmmaker began her career with a horror flick). Here’s a look at the plot:
A drug-addicted psychiatrist inherits the case of twin sisters who speak to nobody and do everything in complete synchronization. Will she be able crack their mysterious case or will she die trying?
Mark says that “fans of 1970s exploitation cinema will be in their element.” The poster above certainly helps to further that statement. Plus, STRANGE GIRLS has already garnered some positive word of mouth after screening at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Hoboken International Film Festival and the Seattle True Independent Film Festival. I’ve always enjoyed f-ed up genre flicks with a darkly comedic edge, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to see these GIRLS soon.
The incestuous twins are played by real-life sisters Angela and Jordana Berliner. The rest of the cast is comprised of Andre DeLawrence Rice, Rick Montgomery, Adrienne Wehr, and Michael Gilbert. You can check out the official MySpace page here for more.
