Look out! Jose Canseco’s out to get you! Well, not necessarily Mr. Canseco, however, I just needed a nice way to introduce you all to a brand new indie horror offering entitled, wait for it… ROID RAGE. As if body builders weren’t scary enough, now they’re getting their own genre spectacle. Take a pumped-up hold of the plot:
A steroid dealer, after receiving a designer drug from the UK, uses it to morph bodybuilders into superhuman killing machines.
Oh, that sounds like one potential-filled idea! It stemmed from the mind of writer/director Josh Mitchell who says, “With the current hoopla about Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and the WWE Chris Benoit murder, this is a topical and fierce movie that has the potential to generate the lucrative box office that SAW and BLAIR WITCH scared up.” Okay, that’s one confident man. Here’s what Patrick Ryan, the flick’s co-director and DP, had to say, “ROID RAGE is not your classic slasher or gore-driven horror film—it’s more of an action/horror piece. It doesn’t try to be too suspenseful or too hokey-horror.”
