Brolin Escapes?!

This is PURELY a rumor, understand that, but it’s a good rumor, one that works for me, so I’ll run it… Coming from a French Spielberg fansite is the gossip that JOSH BROLIN might strap on the eyepatch to play the legendary SNAKE PLISSKIN in the remake of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. “I thought you were dead,” you might say to this movie… Think again.

Now you won’t be able to read the whole article unless you’re French, but apparently when translated the juicy part goes something like this: “It is our scoop of the week. A source close to the production (if so) has assured us that it is now Josh Brolin to be in the running to take over the role of Snake Plissken in the remake currently in draft New York 1997.”

Now, Brolin has been attached to some wild rumors before. Remember when, the ‘net was all a twitter with the concept of him portraying a villainous Terminator in TERMINATOR SALVATION? Either some huge GOONIES fan out there has a wishlist of movies he’d like to see Brolin in is just hoping Hollywood is listening, or the newly re-popular Brolin has producers scrambling to hire him (he’s currently filming Oliver Stone’s W as our lame-duck Prez).

Considering how absolutely awesome Brolin is in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and PLANET TERROR, I’ll reiterate that I have no problem with this if it turns out to be true. He’s a cooler choice than Gerard Butler, who was at one point attached to the role… Now let’s hope an equally cool director can get involved (things are looking up now that both Brett Ratner and Len Wiseman are out of the mix).

What say you folks?

Brolin gets to go home to Diane Lane every night… Talk about livin’ the good life!
