The end of the world is all the rage nowadays, and the summer blockbuster king of such things, Roland Emmerich, is again envisioning ways to put an end to humanity. This time he’s… well, we’re not quite sure what the plot of his apocalyptic thriller 2012 is, but it’s in full swing now, adding cast members every week.
Previously, we’ve gotten word that John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover and Oliver Platt had all gotten on board, and now comes the news that AMANDA PEET – soon to be seen as a hot FBI Agent in the new X-FILES movie – has been cast as Cusack’s ex-wife.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, 2012 revolves around a global cataclysm and the heroic struggle of the survivors. Peet is playing Cusack’s ex-wife, newly married to a wealthy man. Cusack plays a divorced father trying to become a writer while holding a job as a limo driver.
Sounds deep… Barring an actor’s strike, the flick will begin shooting next month, with a July 10, 2009 release date scheduled.
