We’ve got a little 80’s-style Horror Two-fer for you today! The news comes courtesy of our fiendish friends at Fango. Both flicks are being birthed through X Posse Productions, a new creator of low-budget horror. Let’s begin:
First off, we have a slasher frightfest called EVIL AWAKENING which tells the story of a serial killer that rises from the dead and terrorizes young people in the town where he was killed by the locals. Sounds pretty basic, but isn’t that what most slashers are anyway? Regardless, I’m liking the look of said killer (shown above). EVIL is set to stalk DVD shelves on August 19th.
Next up, we have a new killer scarecrow opus called, fittingly enough, RISE OF THE SCARECROWS. The also basic plot goes a little something like this: A small town’s past horrifically catches up to it, in the form of living straw men that are confronted by a newly arrived cop from the city. You can check out the trailer below for this one (you’ll get to see some nervous yokel in an American flag hat!) as well as a scarecrow pic. Is it me or does the mask remind you of both THE ORPHANAGE and THE STRANGERS? Anyhoo, the filmmakers are promising RISE to be “The best movie of its type since the 1988 classic SCARECROWS.” Sounds good. I mean, why would the filmmakers lie? As for now, there is no DVD release date yet.
