Hell Yeah! For those of you not yet aware, THE STRANGERS is an intense, horrifying heart-stopper. It even stays with you after you leave the theater. I really enjoyed it (as did The Arrow by his review here). What surprised me the most is that this flick actually made a dent in the summer box office (as I reported here). Now, with that success has come a reward!
It looks like we may not have seen the last of these STRANGERS. B-D just confirmed that Rogue Pictures has indeed begun official talk for a sequel! I remember hearing an interview with writer/director Bryan Bertino where he mentioned that the idea of a second STRANGERS wasn’t out of the question. It’s just nice hearing that the notion is now being discussed officially. I know that many people let out agitated groans whenever a horror sequel is announced, however I just feel that THE STRANGERS has something new and different going for it. I can’t help but welcome them back into my movie-watching abode. I also can’t help wondering who else may return and how said “returners” would handle a fresh situation.
Liv Tyler (below) and Scott Speedman were fantastic as THE STRANGERS’ terrorized victims. And although they were covered by some extremely creepy masks, Kip Weeks, Gemma Ward, and Laura Margolis all injected loads of swift, stealthy, maniacal verve into the title characters. If they ever decided to pay me a second visit, I’d gladly let ’em in. If I hear any further noise out in the woods of their return, I’ll be sure to let you know!
