Rose in Chains!

After the cinematic experience that was last year’s GRINDHOUSE, I’ve been dying to find out just what director Robert Rodriguez will have up his sleeve next. With BARBELLA out of the picture (see what I mean HERE). it appears that Rodriguez has chosen the small screen to reunite with PLANET TERROR star (and fiance) Rose McGowan. The project? WOMEN IN CHAINS!

According to The Hollywood Reporter Rodriguez is shopping the script / idea for the TV series around to all the networks (including NBC and FX), with McGowan attached to star as one of the lead women in chains.

This isn’t horror, but pitched as a ‘violent drama;’ that said, it echoes the exploitation cinema of the 70s and 80s, with fine flicks like CHAINED HEAT, CAGED HEAT, and WOMEN IN CAGES. There ain’t nothing better than one of these popcorn fests, but you throw in the aspect of Rodriguez directing McGowan in essentially a women in prison exploitation film? I’m so there!

The down side? It’s on TV, so there goes all the nudity and bad language… that said, they could probably push the envelope fairly hard (especially if it goes to FX), and could still end up being a fun, exploitive ride. Oh, the possibilities are endless!
